Oliver Skipp joins young footballers at Premier League Kicks session in Tottenham

Thu 16 March 2023, 17:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Oliver Skipp gave local young people a football class to remember today when he joined in a Premier League Kicks session hosted by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

Kicks, which was originally piloted by the Club in 2006, has helped thousands of young people across the country to reach their potential through free weekly football sessions and educational workshops. Tottenham Hotspur Foundation itself has hosted over 6,500 Kicks sessions, engaging with a total of 10,000 participants.

The main aim of the programme is to involve and support young adults in regular, fun, and positive activity, whilst helping to create stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities.

One of our own Skippy has enjoyed quite the journey with us so far, rising all the way through our youth ranks before graduating from our Academy and moving into the first team.

Earlier today, he joined 20 young players from schools across London who were put through their paces at the New River Sports & Fitness Centre with a series of football skills and drills.

His visit forms part of the wider work delivered by the Club and its Foundation to create life-changing opportunities and experiences for young people across its community, to help reach their full potential.

Speaking at the session, Skippy said: “It’s great to see the impact that Premier League Kicks is having on young people in the community. As someone who has been a part of this Club since I was six years old, it’s important to give back, but to also recognise and appreciate the level of talent that is out there which I saw first-hand today. There were some great skills on show – I hope they continue to keep up the good work.”

One participant commented: “Having the chance to meet and play with Oliver Skipp today at our Premier League Kicks session was a really cool experience. I’ve been a Spurs fans my whole life and was even there when he scored his incredible goal against Chelsea last month – he is a real inspiration to me.”
