Ria’s return | ‘It’s a great moment for me’

Sun 30 April 2023, 19:30|Tottenham Hotspur

366 days after surgery for a knee injury, Ria Percival returned to the pitch for the first time in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Bright & Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Coming on as a second-half substitute in the 82nd minute, Ria got a big hug from Bethany England, who was making way after scoring both of our goals.

We’ve got to put in a good shift, focus on these last three games and get as many points as we can.

Ria Percival

On her return…

“It’s a great moment for me. It’s been a tough year for me and the team this season, but to come on today and try to make an impact and get a result was a good feeling.”

On the game itself…

“We’re not happy with the result. We wanted to go into the game and get the points, but we’ve come from being behind twice and it was the same last week, so we’ve shown that we can do it and get goals. Now we’ve got to get the result and the three points.”

On England’s nine goals in 11 games…

“Every week she’s one that leaves everything out on the pitch every game. To have that many goals is a great credit to her and we’re lucky to have her here at Spurs.”

On Manchester United next…

“It’s going to be a tough one. We know what they’re like and how well they’re doing this season, but we’ve got to put in a good shift, focus on these last three games and get as many points as we can.”
