After Eveliina Summanen registered an assist with her quick thinking for Ashleigh Neville to open the scoring in Sunday’s 2-1 win away to Reading, the Finnish midfielder was quick to compliment our goalscorer.

“Ash is on fire so just give the ball to her! The win is the most important thing we wanted today and I’m happy with that. We were into the game, started well and things happened quickly. I was just happy we scored two early goals. We could’ve still finished the game better.”

As for our second goal of the game, it came by way of an accurate Becky Spencer free-kick over the top to Neville on the right wing. She found So-hyun Cho inside the 18-yard box, and her shot was parried into the path of Nikola Karczewska for her first Spurs goal on her full debut for the club.

“Such a great build-up,” Eveliina said. “We’ve been working on that and it’s good that we created it and showed what we can do. I’m very happy for Nikola. She can use her body and I think it’s a good asset for us.”

Summanen is also thriving off of playing alongside the likes of Angharad James and Drew Spence in midfield.

“They’re great players,” she said. “They’re so available all the time, so good with the ball and I think it’s easy to play with them.”
