Spurs v Sporting CP – how to watch, team news, kit colours, key information

Tue 25 October 2022, 18:12|Tottenham Hotspur

Qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a game to spare would be a welcome tonic after back-to-back defeats on the domestic scene, and that’s what we’ll be aiming to achieve when Sporting CP make the journey from Lisbon to face us at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening (26 October, 8pm UK).

Ahead of our matchday five encounter in Group D, here’s all the information you need to know...

How can I watch the game?

Wednesday’s match gets underway at 8pm and will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3.

Radio commentary can be found on BBC Radio 5 Live or on our ever-popular Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app. The Match Centre also carries live minute-by-minute text updates, photos, stats and much more.

Worldwide broadcast listings for Wednesday’s game are available here.

In the build-up, N17 Live will be on air from 6.55pm UK on SPURSPLAY – join the team for all the breaking news on the starting XI, pre-match analysis and more.

What is the team news?

Antonio Conte will make a late decision on the fitness of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cristian Romero.

Both players missed Sunday’s defeat to Newcastle United.

Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison remain out.

Sporting could again name our former Academy midfielder Marcus Edwards in their starting line-up.

The visitors will be without injured duo Daniel Braganca and Luis Neto, while Pedro Goncalves and Ricardo Esgaio are suspended after being sent off against Marseille last time out in this competition.

What colours will the teams be playing in?

As is traditional on the European stage, we’ll be wearing all-Lilywhite on Wednesday night.

Sporting will play in their change strip, which is primarily black with fluorescent yellow faded hoops on the shirts.

Our goalkeeper will wear green, with Sporting’s in orange.

Who is the referee?

The match officials for Wednesday’s match are from the Netherlands – Danny Makkelie is the referee, assisted by Hessel Steegstra and Jan de Vries.

The fourth official is Jochem Kamphuis.

On VAR duties will be Pol van Boekel, assisted by Dennis Higler.

What will the weather conditions be like?

It’s forecast to be cloudy, with temperatures at around 15 degrees for the game.

How can I get the matchday programme?

As usual in the Champions League, we’ve a special bigger, A4-sized official matchday programme available, which is priced at £6. In Wednesday’s edition, Eric Dier gives an exclusive interview on his time at Sporting CP as a youngster and how we plan to bounce back from consecutive Premier League defeats over the last week, while Japhet Tanganga recalls playing alongside Sporting’s Marcus Edwards in our Academy.

Fans attending the game will be able to pick up a copy at a number of programme booths outside the ground, in the Spurs Shop at the Tottenham Experience or at the Tap Inn bars inside the stadium, or you can order online here for delivery direct to your door.
