Harry and Sonny up for February Premier League awards

Thu 03 March 2022, 13:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been shortlisted in the latest round of monthly Premier League awards.

Harry has been nominated for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award following his standout performances in February.

In the month, our number 10 delivered a duo of dominant displays as we picked up memorable victories at both Manchester City and Leeds United. In our striking 3-2 victory over reigning league champions City at the Etihad, the forward set Sonny away to set up Dejan Kulusevski for our first, he then expertly finished for our second before he headed home a 95th-minute winner.

Then, in our 4-0 win at Leeds on Saturday, the England skipper was again on target as he produced a world-class finish to guide home our third from a tight angle before he then set up Son for our fourth.

Then, in our 4-0 win at Leeds on Saturday, the England skipper was again on target as he produced a world-class finish to guide home our third from a tight angle before he then set up Son for our fourth.

With such quality in both its creation and execution, that strike from Sonny at Elland Road has been nominated for February’s Budweiser Goal of the Month award.

After Harry sent a sumptuous pass over the top of the Leeds defence in the 84th minute, our number seven controlled the ball with his thigh, taking it away from the attentions of two defenders, before he lashed it home from inside the area - that strike also was the 37th time the duo has combined for a goal in the top flight, breaking the league’s all-time record.

For the Player of the Month award, Harry will be up against Southampton’s Che Adams, Ryan Fraser of Newcastle, Liverpool’s Joel Matip, Burnley’s Ben Mee and Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace.

Sonny’s goal, meanwhile, faces competition from Wilfried Zaha (for Crystal Palace at Norwich), Neal Maupay (for Brighton at Watford), Cristiano Ronaldo (For Manchester United versus Brighton), Sadio Mane (for Liverpool versus Norwich), Conor Gallagher (for Crystal Palace at Watford), Oriol Romeu (for Southampton versus Norwich) and Matty Cash (for Aston Villa at Brighton).

As usual, fan votes will help to decide the winners - cast your votes via the links below to give your backing to Harry and Sonny. Voting closes at 12 noon on Monday 7 March.
