Michael Dawson joined local people from Tottenham-based community centre, The Engine Room, at the stadium today (Wednesday 2 March) to announce the launch of their summer charity fun run, The Tottenham Ten.
Following a two-year break due to the pandemic, the event returns in June bigger than ever. This year, the challenge will see participants take on an inclusive 10km run or 5km walk, with funds raised going towards the Engine Room’s essential community outreach work.
The Engine Room is passionate about bringing the community together and providing opportunities for young adults to contribute to their local community.
To celebrate the launch of the event, which will take place on 11 June, 2022, Club Ambassador Daws joined six students from the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham and volunteers from The Engine Room on The Dare Skywalk.
This year, there is an added incentive for young people to join the challenge, with The Engine Room offering 100 free places to 16- to 25-years-olds. Those who sign up will also have the opportunity to fundraise for a number of good causes.
Obi Onyido, Co-ordinator at The Engine Room, said: “This is a really exciting moment for us to be back delivering The Tottenham Ten – we are passionate about the togetherness it brings in the community and given that we have lost out on two years due to COVID, it is so important that we can be back doing what makes a difference, and doing it to the full.
“The Tottenham Ten is a fun, inclusive challenge that we know really brings people together, and we are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get involved and raise money for our work in the local community or their own favourite charity.”
Speaking at the launch, Michael said: “It was great to be at The Tottenham Ten launch today and support this fantastic local initiative which is all about bringing the community together. This is the perfect challenge to help you stay fit, while also having fun and getting involved with your community. I would strongly encourage anyone to sign up for this brilliant event, and to help raise money for charity.”
