N17 Live presenter Ben Haines and Club commentator Rob Daly return for part two and their final take on our memorable 2021/22 campaign - take it away, chaps!
Goal of 21/22
Rob: “Individually, it’s got to be Lucas Moura against Norwich City at home (5 December). It’s just the best goal, and very Lucas! Cutting in, great feet, lovely skill, a moment where it looked like he might lose the ball - then he bangs it home from 20 yards. I’ll go for Lucas.”
Ben: “What about Tanguy Ndombele’s at Newcastle (19 October)? It was fever pitch at St James’ Park at the time, they went ahead early, but that goal cut the noise. Heung-Min Son’s goal against City, first day of the season, was incredible, what an occasion, to beat the champions. I really enjoyed Harry Kane’s goal in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool (19 December), a special moment, but Sonny’s final goal on the final day at Norwich, to win the Golden Boot - the technique is amazing, the celebrations… I loved watching that.”
Rob: “The moment when the players lift him onto their shoulders…”
Ben: “I loved that. Absolutely brilliant. Lucas’ goal deserves an enormous shout here as well. He was so important in the first half of the season.”
Rob: “His quick feet reminded me of his second goal in the Champions League semi-final at Ajax.”
Ben: “Also, what about the technique for Harry’s first goal against City at the Etihad (19 February), they way he opened his body up and just flick volleys it into the top corner. Those are goals you just don’t think about at the time. He makes it look so easy. Those goals make the difference.”

Moment of 21/22
Ben: “It has the be the Flying Dutchman! Rob’s commentary on Stevie Bergwijn’s winner at Leicester City (19 January). Just amazing.”
Rob: “It’s hard to believe. I was thinking, any other season, and that win at City, we’d be talking about it for ages. The late City penalty, that was injury time, I remember a close up of Cuti Romero after his handball, but the team collectively said, ‘no, we can still win this’. There was no keeping the ball in the corner for a point, the players went out to win that game.”
Ben: “It reminded me of the Champions League quarter-final there. I still watch that now! You can’t look beyond Stevie at Leicester though. The celebrations, Lucas throwing the guy’s woolly hat on the floor! Pure emotion.”
Rob: “If Ben’s taking Leicester, I’ll take City. Harry’s performance at the Etihad… I believe that was the best individual performance of any player in the Premier League last season. In fact, I don’t remember him playing better.”

Looking ahead - who do you fancy in the Champions League?
Ben: “I’d love to play PSG, maybe Celtic. The main thing for me, not too much travel. Big atmospheres and get through the group, because the knockout stage is so exciting.”
Rob: “I’ve got a group. Celtic, I think that would be amazing, brilliant atmosphere home and away. Eintracht Frankfurt, and then Antonio Conte back at Juventus.”
Ben: “Juve - love that narrative! If I had to pick one team, it would be Real Madrid. I’d love to have another crack at the Bernabeu.”
