Legendary defender’s festive surprise for Spurs fans in Dubai

Members of UAE Spurs – one of our Official Supporters’ Clubs around the globe – had a special festive treat on Boxing Day when our former defender Paul Miller stopped by at their regular meeting place in Dubai to watch our match against Brentford.
The legendary centre-back, who won two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup with us in the early-1980s, was in the area on holiday and after a recommendation from his former team-mate Ossie Ardiles, joined fans at the Double Decker Pub – UAE Spurs’ regular matchday venue – to take in our 2-2 draw with the Bees on television.
During his visit, ‘Maxi’ took time to speak to supporters about the Club and take photos with them, much to the delight of everyone in attendance.
“We were going to Abu Dhabi for a Christmas holiday and Ossie suggested I visit the Spurs Supporters’ Club in Dubai, as he had done prior to the lockdown,” explained Paul, now 63.
“They were lovely people, Spurs fanatics and very well informed about the Club. I had a great day there and we managed to get a result in the end after being 2-0 down, so it was a good day all round!”
Raad Jaboori, Chair of UAE Spurs, added: “Paul happened to be in the UAE on holiday over the Christmas period and joined us to watch the game. He’s a wonderful gentleman as well as a great player and it was a special bonus to have him with us in Dubai.”
