History for Hugo as he's joined in World Cup quarter-finals by Harry and Eric

Hugo Lloris became France's joint most-capped international on a night three Spurs players moved into the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

France and Spurs skipper Hugo registered cap number 142 - to take him level with legendary defender Lilian Thuram - as Les Bleus cruised past Poland 3-1 in the Round of 16 at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.

Hugo was only really troubled once in the first half by Piotr Zielinski as a goal from Oliver Giroud - making him France's all-time leading goalscorer on 52 - and a double from Kylian Mbappe in the second half saw France home.

Hugo later saved a penalty from Robert Lewandowski but was penalised for advancing off his line, Lewandowski converting the retake for the final 3-1 scoreline.

Later at Al Bayt, Doha, Harry Kane scored his first goal of the tournament as England produced a convincing 3-0 win against Senegal.

That moved the Three Lions' skipper to within one goal of Wayne Rooney's all-time England goalscoring mark of 53, his 52 goals coming in just 79 caps.

The first half was even until Jordan Henderson opened the scoring on 38 minutes. Harry produced a clinical finish from Phil Foden's pass to double the lead in injury time before Bukayo Saka wrapped up victory in the 57th minute.

Eric Dier came off the bench for John Stones on 77 minutes to help wrap up the win. Team-mate Pape Matar Sarr came on for the second half.

Captains Harry and Hugo will now shake hands in the centre circle of the Al Bayt Stadium on Saturday (7pm) as England face France in the quarter-finals.
