Surprise treat for Summer of Spurs participants

Young people taking part in our Summer of Spurs school holiday programme were given an unexpected treat in N17 today (Thursday).

With the afternoon multi-sports sessions suspended due to the rising temperatures in London, participants were instead taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Little did they know, when they made their way to our Stratus lounge on Level 9 of the stadium, two Men’s First team players would be waiting to greet them...

Ryan Sessegnon and summer signing Djed Spence were the surprise guests, answering questions and taking photos with those in attendance.

Young people had the chance to ask ‘Sess’ what it was like to score the Club’s first goal of the season during last Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Southampton.

Djed, meanwhile, was asked how he is settling in since his move to North London from Middlesbrough last month, having helped Nottingham Forest win promotion to the Premier League during a loan spell last season.

With cooler temperatures forecast, Summer of Spurs will return to its regular format next week with football and multi-sports available for young people of all ages on N17 Arena (Park Lane) and Duke’s Aldridge Academy (Worcester Avenue) from 11am-9pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout August.

As well as the surprise appearance from Ryan and Djed, we’ve also had former captains Ledley King and Jenna Schillaci drop into Summer of Spurs sessions, with more special guests lined up over the next couple of weeks - keep an eye out on our social channels for updates!

Summer of Spurs aims to keep young people in the Tottenham area engaged in positive activity during the school holidays, promoting health and wellbeing and reducing levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the process.
