Antonio on Harry: “He’s not only a top player, but also a really good man”

Wed 24 August 2022, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

What more can you say about Harry Kane? That was the question put to Antonio Conte after the striker’s latest milestone goal and winner against Wolves on Saturday.

It was classic Kane, losing his marker as Ivan Perisic flicked on Heung-Min Son’s corner, leaving the easiest of tasks for him to nod home from inside the six-yard box. The hard work was done as the ball arrived, and reward for our second half display.

That was goal number 250 for the Club, taking him to within 16 goals of our all-time top goalscorer, the legendary Jimmy Greaves. It also took him to 185 goals in the Premier League, moving him up to fourth place all-time and ahead of Sergio Aguero (184) both in that list and in terms of most goals for a single club in the competition.

We are talking about a world-class striker... I’m really happy to work with him because he’s not only a top player, but he’s also a really good man

Antonio Conte on Harry Kane

Antonio has worked with Harry for nine months now and said: “He’s incredible. You know very well what I think about Harry. We are talking about a world-class striker, a top goalscorer but, at the same time, I’m really happy to work with him because he’s not only a top player, but he’s also a really good man.

“He’s always totally involved with his team-mates, always ready to help his team-mates and to work for the team. Honestly, to have a player like this, with this talent, to work for the team, is fantastic.

“When you score a lot of goals in this way, for sure, it’s a big achievement. In the same way, we have to help him, he has to help us to have a big achievement together. I’m sure he’s ready to exchange a personal achievement for an achievement with the team for a trophy. I know very well that we have just started out path, but our target is to fight with ambition, and to be competitive.”
