N17 Live presenter Ben Haines and Club Commentator Rob Daly talk all things Burnley ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash at Turf Moor (2pm)...
Turf Moor awaits...
After a tough midweek loss in Slovenia, we're straight back into Premier League action, and time to build on last week's win against Leeds...
Rob: "There’s little point, nor time, to dwell on what happened in Slovenia given how hectic the schedule is. I'm sure we'll see wholesale changes and back to a more familiar Premier League XI. The group should be relishing the chance to put things right at Burnley and to build on the spirited second half against Leeds."
Ben: "I believe we've two or three winnable fixtures coming up, and we need to get those results to push towards the top four. Also, there are fixtures around us that provide opportunities for us to close up, for instance, West Ham are playing Manchester City, one team has to drop points and we have to capitalise. The second half against Leeds was phenomenal, the way we changed it around in the second half was brilliant. I expect us to start like a rocket at Burnley."
All about Burnley
What do the chaps think is in store at Turf Moor?
Ben: "What do I expect from Burnley? Exactly the same as the recent Carabao Cup tie (we won 1-0 a month ago), but with a stronger side, so more physicality, more directness, more rough and tumble around the edge of the box, plenty of set pieces. They do, however, have their vulnerabilities and we have a decent record at Turf Moor. I remember last season's 1-0 win, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were on that run of scoring and assisting (Harry flicked on for Sonny to score the winner) and I would love to see that again."
Rob: "Spurs handled Burnley very well in the Carabao Cup recently. There’s been some tough games at Turf Moor in recent seasons. Maxwell Cornet has added more guile and pace to their attack - I must admit I’m surprised how quickly he’s taken to Premier League football. His finishing his been razor sharp. I commentated on Chelsea 1-1 Burnley recently, and while Chelsea racked up chances and could have killed it off, Burnley stayed tight and frustrated at 1-0 down, keeping themselves in the contest until the final 10 minutes when they found an equaliser. Any kind of win to stay within touching distance of the top four will do!"
The Moor the merrier...
This will be our seventh trip to Turf Moor in the Premier League era - what are your Turf Moor memories?
Rob: "I first went there working in local radio about 15 years ago covering Ipswich Town! Unsurprisingly, it was cold and windy right at the top of that stadium in the commentary gantry! It’s one of the Premier League’s throwback grounds. Burnley have fought for their place amongst the country’s best - staying in the top flight with a limited budget. That is, in part, due to the atmosphere they can generate at Turf Moor. The biggest compliment would be that no-one likes playing there against them."
Ben: "It's cold! It's a traditional stadium, ticking all the boxes for a tricky away day. Having said that, I believe we'll get it right, we'll stick to our tasks - just like we did in the Carabao Cup. I'd love to see Harry on target again, as well."
