Sun 28 March 2021, 10:21|Tottenham Hotspur

Toby Alderweireld rescued Belgium from defeat against the Czech Republic in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying on Saturday evening.

The defender used all his experience to get into position to clear Tomas Soucek's looping header off the line in the fourth and final minute of added time of the Group E encounter. That was cap 106 for Toby. Romelu Lukaku levelled Lukas Provod's opener as it ended 1-1 in Prague.

Staying in World Cup qualifying, Academy youngster Maksim Paskotsi earned his second cap for Estonia and played 87 minutes of the 4-2 defeat against Belarus in Group E. Estonia were level at 2-2 in Minsk but had a player sent off on 79 minutes before conceding on 81 and 83.

Steven Bergwijn (12 caps) was a late substitute as the Netherlands beat Latvia 2-0 in Group G but it was a tough night for Matt Doherty and the Republic of Ireland. Matt (18 caps) played the first half as the Republic suffered a surprise late loss to Luxembourg in Group A, Gerson Rodrigues striking late for the visitors in Dublin. Troy Parrott came off the bench late on to earn his third cap.

In friendly action, Gareth Bale came off the bench late to earn cap 89 for Wales in a 1-0 win against Mexico in Cardiff. Kieffer Moore struck the winner on 11 minutes as former Spur Chris Gunter celebrated reaching 100 caps. Joe Rodon stayed on the bench.
