Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played his part as Denmark began their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win in Israel on Thursday.
Earning his 39th cap, Pierre completed the full 90 minutes in midfield and was involved in the opening goal at the Bloomfield Stadium, Tel Aviv, when his pass was flicked on by Jonas Wind for Martin Braithwaite to tuck away in the first half. Wind made it 2-0 in the second half of the Group F encounter.
England captain Harry Kane and Eric Dier remained on the bench as the Three Lions beat San Marino 5-0 in their Group I opener at Wembley.
Oliver Skipp started and completed the 90 as England Under-21s made a disappointing start in the UEFA Under-21 Championship group stage in Slovenia, beaten 1-0 by Switzerland. Ryan Sessegnon came off the bench on 76 minutes, Japhet Tanganga was an unused substitute. England will have to recover quickly in the second of three group matches against Portugal on Sunday (8pm).
