Hugo Lloris is only looking ahead after the team returned to winning ways against Burnley on Sunday, with crucial Premier League points at stake against Fulham and Crystal Palace this week.

Our 4-0 home victory over the Clarets, which marked Hugo’s 100th clean sheet in the Premier League, has given our domestic campaign a real shot in the arm after we managed only one win in our previous six top-flight games.

That result came off the back of a comprehensive 4-0 home win over Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League, completing an 8-1 aggregate victory that booked a last-16 date with Dinamo Zagreb later this month.

With a trip to Craven Cottage up next on Thursday (6pm), before a return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a rare Sunday evening kick-off (7.15pm), skipper Hugo is optimistic over what lies ahead.

Hopefully, the last two results will give us confidence for the schedule ahead of us.

“(Sunday) was a good result because it’s 4-0, four goals scored and a clean sheet for the team – at this moment of the season, it’s very important for the confidence,” said the France international.

“We need to have a run, turning performances into wins, so next week will be decisive. It’s important to get this idea in our minds and be ready for the next two fights.

“In this league, it’s difficult to predict what is going to happen. We deserved the win (against Burnley) because we went onto the pitch and gave our all as a team. In the last few games, there was a lot of criticism about defence, but football is about balance. If you are unbalanced, this is what happened in the last few games – you concede goals and the performance doesn’t give confidence to the team, and confidence is key.

“Hopefully, the last two results will give us confidence for the schedule ahead of us, because we are in a period of the season where everything can count at the end.”
