Davison: "We've got a good group here and we'll take the positives"

Gemma Davison took the positives from a battling performance against Everton at the Hive on Sunday afternoon.
After conceding two early penalties, the team dug deep, continued to create chances and take the game to Everton. Our pressure was rewarded before half-time when Angela Addison pulled one back with an assured chip over the goalkeeper.
Approaching the hour mark, Gemma produced a goal of the month contender with a brilliant solo effort to level the scores. Gemma picked the ball up on half-way and drove at the Everton back line. With an initial pass blocked and defenders back-peddling, the forward chested the ball down and hit an instinctive low strike on the half-volley into the far corner.
Unfortunately Jill Scott headed home an Everton corner shortly after to seal the points for the visitors. Despite the disappointment, Gemma took the positives from the chances created and how the team responded to the early setbacks.
“It’s frustrating,” Gemma explained after the match. “It’s difficult to take when we created chances and I thought it was a good performance from us, but it’s a difficult one to take.
"We have to look at our bounce back, which is something we’ve had to work on and credit to the team because we went after it and we brought the lead back, but unfortunately it didn’t work out.
“It’s a tough afternoon and there’s things we need to work on and we’ll work hard to get those things right and on another day we’ll take more chances as well.
“We’ve got a good group here and we will take positives out of this week. Like I said, it’s difficult to take because we know we performed, so we’ll work hard this week and go into Brighton with all guns blazing.”
As for her wonder-strike, Gemma added: “I’ve been trying to work on going forward at every opportunity and I think that’s a little kick up the backside for me to be ball carrying more and that’s the result you get at the end of it. It was a good finish from Angela as well and a great ball by Kit Graham.”
