Internationals - Hugo's France off to a flier

Wed 16 June 2021, 08:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris got off to the perfect start in Euro 2020 on Monday evening - a clean sheet and win against Germany.

Earning his 126th cap, skipper Hugo told us beforehand how tough Group F will be - reigning and previous World Cup winners France and Germany, Euro 2016 winners Portugal and Hungary - but it was all systems go for Les Bleus, who ran out 1-0 winners in Munich.

The game was decided by Mats Hummels' own goal on 20 minutes and although that's how it stayed, Hugo didn't have a serious save to make and France had two goals ruled out for offside. Moussa Sissoko was an unused substitute. France next take on Hungary at the Puskas Arena, Budapest, host of our Europa League tie against Wolfsberger AC in February.

Next up for our players - Welsh trio Gareth Bale, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon take on Turkey in Group A in Baku, Azerbaijan, this evening (16 June, 8pm). Wales drew their opening game against Switzerland while Turkey were beaten 3-0 by Italy.
