Internationals - joy for Gio, pain for Davinson

In the end, it was joy for Gio and pain for Davinson as Argentina toppled Colombia 3-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in Brasilia. Argentina now face old rivals and hosts Brazil in the final at the famous Maracana in Rio on Sunday.
Successful in a shoot-out as Colombia beat Uruguay from the spot in the quarter-finals, Davinson suffered the opposite fate this time as his penalty was saved by Emiliano Martinez.
That was cap number 40 for Davinson. Gio started and earned his 28th cap for Argentina, and played an important part as his team opened the scoring on seven minutes, threading a pass through to Lionel Messi, who in turn crossed for Lautaro Martinez to fire home. Gio was substituted on 56 minutes and Colombia levelled soon after through Luis Diaz.
Martinez saved three penalties in the shoot-out to take Argentina through to the final. Brazil beat Peru on Tuesday.
