Jose Mourinho believes Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be 'okay for the weekend' after suffering a nasty gash down the shin late in our Carabao Cup semi-final victory against Brentford on Tuesday night.

The midfielder was forced off in the 86th minute after a tackle from Josh Dasilva as we booked our place in April's final* with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Moussa Sissoko and Heung-Min Son. Dasilva was sent off for the challenge.

Next up, Marine in the FA Cup third round on Sunday (5pm).

Jose said: "I think he’s okay. It was for sure a bad tackle because he is bleeding a lot and the shin pad is a bit broken. That's football. Dasilva is a young guy and a good player, so in the heat of the game there is nothing to be critical of. Mike Dean made the decision based on VAR so everything is fine and correct.

"Pierre has a big cut, but he didn’t even want me to play Japhet, he wanted to carry on. I believe he is fine and he can be okay for the weekend."
