Fans' special - moment of 2020, hopes for 2021

Fri 01 January 2021, 10:24|Tottenham Hotspur

As we wave goodbye to an unforgettable 2020 and usher in 2021, we turned to officials of our Official Supporters' Clubs for their favourite moment of last year, and hopes for 2021...

Tsvetomir Iliev, chairman, Bulgaria Spurs

Moment: Beating Manchester United at Old Trafford in October, and scoring six goals.

Hopes: Firstly, everybody to be safe and healthy and to overcome COVID. Winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup, as well as finishing in the top four.

Dominic O'Reirden, chairman, Amsterdam Spurs

Moment: Although it was difficult, one of the good things for our supporters' club, and indeed most supporters’ clubs, was that we saw a lot of folks being active whilst at a distance, supporting each other and definitely being a lot more interactive online. We had a bunch of new members join up and they've been really active, even though we've been unable to meet regularly or at all. Those reasons, plus beating Arsenal twice in 2020!

Hopes: It has to be getting back into a position to support the club as a group to watch Spurs play. This is both here in Amsterdam, meeting up in one of our pubs and, importantly, alongside all the other supporters getting back into the stadium to watch as a crowd. I am sure many of us look forward to a pre and possibly post-match pint with friends at the Goal Line Bar as soon as we can. It will be great to get both our old and new members cheering on the team together.

Steve Button, chairman, South East Thames Spurs

Moment: In a strange year, my favourite moment has been getting 12 of us together during the lockdown for the 6-1 thumping of United. We all needed that and realised what we missed.

Hopes: We hope 2021 can bring us back to the stadium with full houses, a good drink and a couple of Legends Nights. And if it's not too greedy, a trophy or three...

Paul Pavlou, chairman, Yorkshire Spurs

Moment: My favourite moment pre-lockdown was the 2-0 win against Manchester City. I was behind the goal when Hugo Lloris saved Ilkay Gundogan's penalty and later when Sonny sealed the win. Since the restart, it has to be destroying Manchester United 6-1!

Hopes: Winning the Europa League or one of the domestic cups would be amazing! League-wise, hopefully recent form is just a blip so we need to turn our league form around, starting against Leeds, and at least seal top four. If we beat Liverpool in a few weeks it will totally open up the title race. That game is huge. So, top four minimum and aim for first place!

Bjornar Valen, chairman, Norway Spurs

Moment: The 6-1 win at Old Trafford sits as my best memory of 2020, just after comes the 2-0 wins against Arsenal and then City.

Hopes: A trophy along with a top four finish would make the season good, preferably the Europa League or FA Cup.

Fabrizio Azzoli, chairman, Spurs Italia

Moment: My favourite moment of 2020 was the victory against Manchester United. What a game! We were 1-0 down and did a fantastic comeback to end with a wonderful 6-1 win.

Hopes: My only hope is to see Spurs lift a trophy.

Darren Attwood, chairman, Worcestershire Spurs

Moment: My favourite moment of 2020 was being interviewed at half-time on the pitch about Worcestershire Spurs during the game against Manchester City in February. On the pitch, beating Arsenal at home twice and Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

Hopes: My hope for 2021 is to hopefully win the Europa League and return to watch games at the stadium.

Emma Nottage, secretary, North West Spurs

Moment: My favourite moment of 2020 has got to be Sonny's Puskas Award for his solo effort against Burnley, but also beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford has to be right up there.

Hopes: My hope for 2021 is fans are allowed back to watch games and that everyone is safe and well. I'm really looking forward to lifting a trophy and being able to celebrate it with my Spurs family in a parade on the High Road!
