Ahead of Sunday afternoon’s Premier League encounter against Burnley (2pm kick-off), we take a look at the key number behind the game.

Home comforts

In the Premier League, we are unbeaten at home against Burnley. Having faced the Clarets six times so far in the competition, we have won five of those games (D1), scoring 16 goals and conceding just three. In fact, it has been 46 years since we last lost a top-flight home meeting with Sunday’s opposition. In all competitions, we have lost just one of our last nine home fixtures with the Lancashire side.

Having taken all three points from the reverse fixture away at Turf Moor in October (1-0), if we earn victory on Sunday, it will be the first time we have completed a league double over the Clarets since the 2016/17 season. However, our opponents come into this meeting having won two of their last three away games in the Premier League.

Clarets’ capital gains

Burnley have been victorious on four of their last six Premier League visits to London. So far this season, Sean Dyche’s side have won twice in the capital with their victories coming against Arsenal and Crystal Palace. Only in two of their previous top flight campaigns have they won more games in the city (four in 1960/61 and three in 1974/75).

For and against

Only three teams have kept more clean sheets than Burnley this season (9) - six of those have come in their 10 games away from home. However, at the other end of the pitch, they haven't registered in 13 of 25 Premier League games. That stark difference between defence and attack has led to just 48 goals being scored in Premier League games involving Burnley this season - fewer than any other side (F18 A30).

Only in one of our 13 Premier League encounters with Burnley have we failed to score - a 0-0 draw with the Clarets in April, 2015 - while we also have only failed to score in three of our last 20 home Premier League games. The Lancashire side have failed to score in seven of our 13 meetings in the competition to date.

Jose v Dyche

Jose Mourinho has managed more Premier League games against Burnley without losing than against any other club in his managerial career (P10 W6 D4). For all 10 of those games, Sean Dyche has been in charge of the Lancashire side.

The last time Jose welcomed Dyche in the Premier League was back in December, 2019, as we hosted Burnley for the first time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We cantered to a 5-0 win on that day with Harry Kane (2), Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko all on the scoresheet. Yet, the headlines from that game went to Heung-Min Son as it was against the Lancashire side that he scored his iconic Puskas-winning goal.

On target

Harry Kane has been directly involved in 10 goals in just nine Premier League appearances against Burnley (seven goals, three assists). In terms of goals scored against the Clarets in the competition, only Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez (eight) has more to his name than Harry (seven). Dele, meanwhile, has been directly involved in seven goals in his seven Premier League games against Sean Dyche’s side (four goals, three assists), including scoring from the penalty spot on his last appearance against Sunday's opponents - our 1-1 draw in March, 2020.
