Under-23s draw with Arsenal

Spurs Under-23s 2-2 Arsenal

Our Under-23s battled out a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in an entertaining pre-season contest at Hotspur Way on Saturday lunchtime.

We had taken the lead early on as defender Dermi Lusala marked his first game for Wayne Burnett's side with a goal, but the visitors turned the game on its head with George Lewis and Folarin Balogun finding the target either side of the interval. However, we kept pressing and found a deserved leveller eight minutes from time through Dilan Markanday.

We started well and took the upper hand on 10 minutes through Lusala, but the Gunners got themselves back on terms through striker Lewis a quarter-of-an-hour later.

The game continued in an end-to-end manner as we moved into the second period, with Balogun providing the finish to put the visitors ahead 10 minutes after the restart.

Chay Cooper and Kion Etete both had opportunities to find the back of the net for us thereafter, but it was Markanday with the equaliser in the end as he slotted the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Tom Smith, as the pre-season derby ended in a draw.
