Internationals – wins for England, France and Belgium

Sat 05 September 2020, 21:54|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane played his first match since the final day of last season as England secured a 1-0 victory away to Iceland in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

The Three Lions’ captain started along with Eric Dier and was unlucky to see his early effort controversially ruled out for off-side.

Harry played 78 minutes before being withdrawn, while Eric completed the full game as Raheem Sterling’s late penalty gave Gareth Southgate’s side the win. Iceland missed an even later spot-kick as both sides finished with 10 men.

Elsewhere in the Nations League, Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet for France as they secured a 1-0 victory in Sweden on Saturday evening. Moussa Sissoko was an unused substitute for Les Bleus.

Toby Alderweireld also tasted success, albeit at the expense of new club team-mate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with Toby’s Belgium claiming a 2-0 victory over Pierre’s Denmark in Copenhagen.

Both Toby and Pierre completed the full match for their respective sides.
