Lyons-Foster nominated for monthly Premier League 2 award

Tue 06 October 2020, 08:27|Tottenham Hotspur

Teenage defender Brooklyn Lyons-Foster has been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for September.

The 19-year-old has been a key part of our Under-23s’ unbeaten start to the season and was ever-present at centre-half in back-to-back London derby wins and clean sheets against West Ham (3-0 at home) and Arsenal (1-0 away) towards the end of last month, which followed on from our opening-day 1-1 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

He subsequently started once more as we beat Southampton 2-1 at Hotspur Way on Saturday to keep ourselves at the top of the table.

Brooklyn is one of seven young players on the shortlist for the award – joining him are Scott Banks (Crystal Palace), Josh Bowler (Everton), Mitchell Clark (Leicester City), Sam Greenwood (Leeds United), James McAtee (Manchester City) and Liam Millar (Liverpool).

Nominees were selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel after club coaches picked out the best performance by an opposing player in each of their Premier League 2 matches during September.

The winner will also be decided by the panel.
