Lucas determined to continue on the front foot

Wed 14 October 2020, 13:12|Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Moura wants us to pick up where we left off, in style, before the international break when we return to action against West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday (4.30pm).

Fans will need no reminding of our last action as we spectacularly hit Manchester United for six at Old Trafford.

That brought an end to a sequence of eight matches in 22 days from the start of the season on 13 September to that joy of six on 4 October.

The final week of that spell was particularly impressive as we came from behind to beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup before scoring seven goals against Maccabi Haifa to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.

Three days later, that day in Stretford. “We always believe, but it’s difficult to imagine 6-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford,” reflected Lucas back at Hotspur Way, as he continued preparations for West Ham this week.

We need to start the new month in the same way, with the same fighting spirit. I’m very positive.

“It’s never easy there, and it’s always a different taste to win a game like that against a big opponent. It gives us a new motivation, a new confidence and that’s very important for the season.

“It was a tough month for us, but we did very well. It was really important to finish that series of games in the best way, and the last game was amazing. If it was a different result, I can imagine what it would be like this week, and until the international guys come back… very difficult.

“Now we need to start the new month in the same way, with the same fighting spirit. I’m very positive. I think we are building a very strong squad and we can dream of big things this season, that’s our objective.”
