Internationals - wins all round!

Sat 10 October 2020, 21:38|Tottenham Hotspur

The winning trend continued for our players on international duty across Friday and Saturday.

Defender Davinson Sanchez played his part in a clean sheet for Colombia as they secured a 3-0 home victory over Venezuela in South American qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Davinson completed the full game at centre-half for the hosts, whose goals all arrived during the first period.

Sergio Reguilon was fit enough to take a place on the bench for Spain in their UEFA Nations League clash with Switzerland on Saturday night after taking a knock against Portugal in midweek, but remained unused as his nation secured a 1-0 win in Madrid.

In the early hours of Friday morning, on-loan Juan Foyth came on as an 84th-minute substitute for Argentina as they won their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador 1-0 in Buenos Aires.

Later that day, there were European Under-21 Championship qualifying victories for Gedson Fernandes and Jack Roles. Gedson played the full 90 minutes for Portugal Under-21s as they won 4-1 at home to Norway, while Jack Roles – also ever-present throughout the game – provided both assists for Cyprus Under-21s in their 2-1 triumph in Belarus.
