Loan round-up – Skipp and Sessegnon shine

Tue 24 November 2020, 13:48|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s been a busy first few days back after the international break for our players out on loan.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp continued his run of starting every Championship game for Norwich City since the beginning of the season with a Man of the Match display in their 1-0 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The 20-year-old completed the full 90 minutes, with the Canaries due to visit Stoke City this evening (Tuesday 24 November).

It was also a noteworthy weekend for Skippy’s fellow England Under-21 international Ryan Sessegnon, who scored his first goal for German side Hoffenheim in their 3-3 home draw with VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old, operating down the left flank, scored his side’s second goal to make it 2-2 shortly after half-time and went on to complete the full game.

Hoffenheim visit Slovan Liberec in the Europa League on Thursday.

Championship debut for Troy

Saturday marked striker Troy Parrott’s first league appearance for Millwall since he joined the Championship side in pre-season.

Injured on his debut against Burnley in the Carabao Cup back in September, the 18-year-old front man made his comeback with Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s and senior side during the international break before coming on for the last 14 minutes of the Lions’ 1-1 home draw with Cardiff City at the weekend for his first taste of Championship action.

Millwall are next on duty at home to Reading on Wednesday.

League One starts for Eyoma and Tracey

Elsewhere in the EFL, defender TJ Eyoma and attacker Shilow Tracey both started for their respective loan clubs in League One on Saturday.

TJ helped Lincoln City to keep a clean sheet at Accrington Stanley, the 20-year-old being withdrawn 10 minutes from time as the match ended 0-0.

Shilow, meanwhile, played 79 minutes of Shrewsbury Town’s 2-1 loss at Ipswich Town.

In League Two, Kazaiah Sterling featured as a late substitute for Southend United as they claimed their first league win of the season at Walsall last weekend (1-0 on 14 November) but they missed out on the chance to build momentum off the back of that as their scheduled fixture against Cambridge United on Saturday was postponed.

In the National League, goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi was again on the bench for Maidenhead United in all three of their games last week – a 2-1 win at Chesterfield followed by back-to-back draws away to Aldershot Town (0-0) and at home to Bromley (2-2).

In Spain’s La Liga, defender Juan Foyth was an unused substitute for Villarreal as they drew 1-1 at home to Real Madrid on Saturday.
