Tue 10 March 2020, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur

We take on RB Leipzig tonight in the return leg of our Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Red Bull Arena (8pm kick-off).

Leipzig have the advantage going into the clash in Germany having secured a 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg last month.

Team news

Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann will be without centre-back pairing Ibrahima Konate (hamstring) and Willi Orban (knee) while Kevin Kampl (ankle) and Ethan Ampadu (back) are doubts for the clash. Timo Werner, however, is back in contention for the game having recovered from a muscular problem while Dayot Upamecano has completed his suspension and will also be available.

Leipzig’s form

Since taking victory in the first leg, Leipzig have been unbeaten in their Bundesliga outings. Resuming their German top-flight campaign on 22 February, they immediately put five past Schalke 04 in a 5-0 win before they earned back-to-back draws - 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen and 0-0 with Wolfsburg. Those results, however, have seen Leipzig lose ground on league leaders Bayern Munich - the Bavarian side are now five points clear.

One to watch

While Timo Werner has blown away the Bundesliga with his goalscoring record so far this season, his fellow forward Patrik Schick has shown in recent months that he is also a force to be reckoned with. Moving to the Red Bull Arena in the summer on loan from Roma, Schick had a slow start to the season as he battled back from injury. However, since making his debut at the end of November, he has played in each league game. In that spell, he enjoyed a run of scoring seven goals in just 12 games.

The numbers game

7 - RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is yet to find the net in six home Champions League appearances, attempting 22 shots without success; by contrast, in away games, Werner has scored seven goals from 14 shots. Werner has scored more Champions League goals without scoring at home than any other player in the competition’s history.

5 - We have scored in all but one of our six away trips in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages. The last time we failed to score on the road was in our quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid in April, 2011. We have also scored at least once in each of our last 14 away matches in the competition.

8 - Jose Mourinho has guided his team past the round of 16 in eight of his last 12 seasons, lifting the trophy twice having reached two finals and progressing to six semi-finals.

1 - We have only lost one of our five away Champions League games in Germany (W2 D2).

4 - Four of RB Leipzig’s last five Champions League goals have been penalties, including each of the last three. Only one team has ever scored more than four penalties in a single Champions League campaign - Barcelona in 2011/12 (five).
