Ledley meets fans in Dublin

Thu 12 March 2020, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Last weekend, Ledley King visited Ireland to meet over 350 supporters at a special Legends’ event organised by Dublin Spurs.

A bagpipe rendition of ‘Oh when the Spurs go marching in’ played out as our former skipper entered the room to a standing ovation, surrounded by Club memorabilia and flags representing many of our 260 Official Supporters’ Clubs.

Ledley then took part in an auction, a Q&A and a signing session with delighted fans from across the country.

This year’s Legends’ Evening was in aid of The Cillian Kenny Trust Fund, a charity which supports 15-year-old superfan Cillian, who suffers from multiple disabilities.

It’s always great to get out there and meet members of our Supporters’ Clubs, who show us fantastic support from all over the world.

The €1,800 raised at the event will go towards helping Cillian, described by his fellow Dublin Spurs members as “the life and soul of the Supporters’ Club,” gain more independence and achieve his goals.

Several of our clubs around the world also showed their support from afar, with Dallas Spurs, Milwaukee Spurs and Sweden Spurs all donating prizes for the auction.

One of 20 Official Supporters’ Clubs in Ireland, Dublin Spurs has been with us for over 25 years and recently joined us pitchside at the stadium.

Speaking at the event, Ledley said: “It’s always great to get out there and meet members of our Supporters’ Clubs, who show us fantastic support from all over the world.

“Irish fans have come together here for such an important cause and I’m happy to play a part.”

Mags Molloy, Chairperson of Dublin Spurs, added: “The event was just magical in so many ways.

“Ledley is clearly passionate about both the Club and us fans. It was an epic night for all and the memories are priceless. Thank you to The King.”

We currently have 260 Official Supporters’ Clubs across the world, including South Korea, India, Singapore, Lebanon, Nigeria, Australia, Bermuda, South Africa, Brazil and the United States. In the UK, we have 42 clubs stretching from Cornwall to Glasgow, alongside special interest groups such as Proud Lilywhites for our LGBTQ+ supporters, SpursAbility for our disabled fans, and Armed Forces Spurs for serving and former members of the British Armed Forces.
