On Wednesday evening, we make our longest Premier League away trip of the season as we visit Newcastle United (6pm kick-off).

Supporters can watch the game live on BT Sport 1.

Team news

Magpies boss Steve Bruce may be without captain Jamaal Lascelles for Wednesday evening’s encounter after the defender was forced off in their 2-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bruce also has doubts over whether midfield duo Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff will be available for the game.

Danny Rose is ineligible to feature under the terms of his loan from us.

Newcastle’s form

It had been an encouraging return to action for Newcastle when the Premier League campaign resumed in June but in recent games, their strong early form has started to ebb away. Unbeaten after their first four league games following the restart - which included commanding wins over Sheffield United (3-0) and Bournemouth (4-1) - the Magpies have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two outings, both on the road – a 5-0 loss to Manchester City and a 2-1 reverse to Watford.

One to watch

A standout performer for the Magpies this season has been one of their summer arrivals, Allan Saint-Maximin. A dynamic winger with pace and a trick or two on the flanks, the 23-year-old has impressed in his first year on Tyneside. Full of energy, Saint-Maximin has already been involved in 11 goals in black and white – four scored and seven assisted. In Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth, the forward provided a hat-trick of assists.

New faces

Steve Bruce moved to bring in three new faces during the January transfer window with all of the fresh recruits arriving on loan. Midfielder Valentino Lazaro moved from Internazionale while former Spurs man Nabil Bentaleb joined from Schalke 04. Danny Rose also signed for the Magpies on loan from us during the winter period but, as we are Danny's parent club, he will be ineligible to face us on Wednesday.

Played for both

Jermaine Jenas was a reliable figure during his time with us and came up with some important goals. Having started his career at his local side Nottingham Forest, JJ moved on to Newcastle at the age of 18 before signing for us three years later.

The midfielder went on to make over 200 appearances for us and scored 26 goals – two of which sent us to Wembley in 2008 as we defeated Arsenal 6-2 on aggregate in the League Cup semi-finals before we lifted the trophy under the famous arch with a 2-1 win over Chelsea. He also helped us qualify for our first-ever UEFA Champions League campaign in 2010 and was part of the side that subsequently reached the quarter-finals of the competition the following season. JJ earned 21 caps for England during his career and was part of the Three Lions' 2006 World Cup squad.

Later in his career, spells at Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers would follow, as well as a return to Forest, before he retired in 2016 and moved into punditry. Jermaine is now a regular face and voice on both BBC Sport and BT Sport.
