Eighty yards or eight inches, every goal is special for Heung-Min Son.

The South Korean star was in the right place at the right time to nod home the winning goal against Norwich City on Wednesday evening.

It couldn’t have been more of a contrast to his last goal - that amazing run from the edge of our box, through the gears to the other end to slot home the Premier League’s Budweiser Goal of the Month for December against Burnley.

Yet both goals meant as much to Sonny, with his close-range effort following in Dele’s deflected shot securing victory against the Canaries, ending a run of four without a win in the Premier League and a sequence of seven games without a goal for himself.

I always try to be calm, try to work for the team but it’s important to be back on the scoresheet and to get my confidence back

Heung-Min Son

“Every goal is very special but for me, this is very special because I can’t only score goals like the goal I scored against Burnley, sometimes I need to score a goal like this to feel my confidence back and to feel I can score like this as well,” he explained.

“It’s been very tough for me. I always try to be calm, try to work for the team but it’s important to be back on the scoresheet and to get my confidence back.”

We were pushed all the way by Norwich, who levelled Dele’s opener via the penalty spot on 70 minutes only for us to dig deep and find that winner nine minutes later.

Sonny reasoned: “The most important thing is to get three points. It doesn’t matter how.

“Sometimes we play amazing, but we lose and we’re all disappointed. Sometimes it’s the other way around, we don’t play well but the most important thing in football is to win these games and get the three points. We won and it showed our character, which is very important.”
