Son collects Premier League award for Burnley stunner

Heung-Min Son’s memorable solo goal against Burnley has been named the Premier League’s Budweiser Goal of the Month for December.
Son ran virtually the length of the pitch after collecting possession just outside our box before hitting the back of the net in our 5-0 home victory over Sean Dyche’s men on 7 December.
Recently crowned our Goal of the Decade by supporters after a social media poll, the sensational strike has now earned Son his second Goal of the Month award from the Premier League.
He previously won it in November, 2018, for a similarly stylish solo run and finish in our 3-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley.
“Always to get this award is a big honour for me and especially with this unbelievable goal, a special goal for me,” said the South Korean international. “So yes, it feels great and I’m really happy.”
Talking through the goal, he continued: “As soon as I got the ball I tried to pass, I was looking in front of me, who was there, obviously I couldn’t, so I slowed down to look for another option. I then tried to find space with the dribble, was a little lucky, the timing was lucky as well, the last touch, the finish, I still remember I tried to finish well because the action before was really quick and after that action, I wanted to finish well and I wanted to focus on the finish.”
Son’s goal was our third of that afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and came after an early couple from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura. Harry and Moussa Sissoko completed our 5-0 win in the second period.
“I remember before the game that we said we had to start strong and positively, and Harry scored an unbelievable goal early,” Son added. “At 2-0, all the players had the confidence and when I scored this goal, I just felt so, so happy, especially in our stadium.
“I’m the type of player who wants to give everything. I want to be positive and after this goal, it made me really proud. I’m just grateful for my team-mates who give me the options… you can’t do this on your own, the players, the staff, the fans – it’s an unbelievable feeling to share with everyone.”
