Junior member Gracie’s ‘amazing’ matchday with Spurs Women

Fri 10 January 2020, 06:23|Tottenham Hotspur

Young Spurs fan Gracie Jeynes enjoyed a day to remember with the Spurs Women players at last weekend’s clash with Manchester City at The Hive.

As part of our latest One Hotspur Moment, eight-year-old Gracie won the chance to take centre stage as one of the official mascots for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League game.

A keen supporter of Spurs Women, Gracie had previously met Kit Graham and Hannah Godfrey – both of whom signed new contracts with the Club this week – when they took part in a signing session in the Spurs Shop at the Tottenham Experience earlier this season, while she was also in the stands for the first north London derby inside our new stadium as we battled Arsenal in the WSL in November.

But when she found out she’d won the chance to be an official mascot in one of our fantastic Junior competitions, she was over the moon.

“I was so excited and happy!” she smiled, telling us the story of her day in her own words.

“I was really excited the morning of the match. I had chosen the friends I wanted to take with me, we got to go out pitchside to watch the players warm up and all the girls had a picture taken.

“It was so cool waiting in the tunnel for the players to arrive. I walked out with the captain, Josie Green, and she was really nice. The music started playing and we followed the referees out to the middle of the pitch – it was amazing. We had really good seats to watch the game too.

“After the game we went back to the tunnel and all the players came by and stopped so that I could get my programme signed. They all thanked us for going which was nice and I thanked them for letting me be their mascot! An amazing day!”
