Jose Mourinho has confirmed that new signing Gedson Fernandes will be in the squad at Watford on Saturday (12.30pm).

We announced the Portuguese midfielder’s arrival on loan from Benfica on Wednesday and having trained on Thursday and Friday, he’s all set to step out for his Spurs debut at Vicarage Road.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Jose said: “This weekend, he will be involved, starting or not, but for sure he’ll be involved in the team.

“When you get players in January normally it’s because you need, and we need, because we’ve lost important players for a long time, so we need his contribution.

“A young player - yes. Just arrived in a new country - yes. At the same time, he has experience of playing for a big club. He’s played already big matches, for example, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray away in the Champions League, Europa League quarter-finals, so he’s used to a high level of stress, pressure and responsibility. He’s a kid who can play in different positions in midfield, even wide on the right if we need.”
