The auction for signed Poppy shirts worn by the Men’s and Women’s teams in matches played during Remembrance, in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, has raised a grand total of £102,911 – the largest amount on record from a Poppy shirt auction.

Working with MatchWornShirt, items auctioned off included Harry Kane’s shirt from the Brighton victory which raised a staggering £9,047 and Heung-Min Son’s from the same game which raised £3,706.

Other shirts auctioned off included the shirt worn by Gareth Bale from his winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Brighton – his first goal after he re-joined the Club from Real Madrid in September – which raised £5,989. In addition, the shirt worn by USA international and two-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan on her long-awaited debut for Tottenham Hotspur Women also raised an impressive £3,389.

All money raised will go to support The Royal British Legion, the country’s largest Armed Forces charity, providing lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.

Claire Rowcliffe, Director of Fundraising at The Royal British Legion, said: “The pandemic has had an overwhelming impact on people’s livelihoods and way of life, leaving some in the Armed Forces community in dire need of urgent assistance, so we are doubly grateful to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and the tremendous support their fans have demonstrated this year.

“This year we needed that support more than ever, so we can ensure that those who have served and sacrificed on our behalf are looked after. Many of Tottenham’s fans will have faced their own personal challenges due to the pandemic, so thank you for making such a huge difference to our Armed Forces community. Every poppy counts.”
