Ben's strike shortlisted for Carabao Cup award - vote now!

Wed 30 December 2020, 17:29|Tottenham Hotspur

Ben Davies' thunderbolt against Stoke City has been shortlisted for the Goal of the Round in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The full-back let rip from 25 yards and saw his effort zip home off the post at the bet365 Stadium on 23 December. It was a crucial goal as well, restoring our advantage in the tie at 2-1 after Stoke levelled Gareth Bale's opener with their first attempt on target. Harry Kane wrapped it up with the third goal and we now face Brentford in the semi-final on Tuesday 5 January (7.45pm).

It was the definition of a 'sweet strike' and, speaking on the night, Ben told us: "I had a chance a couple of minutes before that and tried to play it into Harry. The second time I just thought, ‘why not?’ and it was nice to see it nestle in the corner."

Ben is up against Brentford's Josh Dasilva strike against Newcastle, Alexandre Lacazette's header for Arsenal against City, Phil Foden for City against Arsenal and Edinson Cavani's effort for United at Everton.
