Heung-Min Son is ready to take a more senior role in the squad.

Now 28, Sonny has been a Spur for five years this summer, racking up 229 appearances and 85 goals in all competitions in that time.

One of the most popular players in recent history, the South Korea skipper made it a second successive clean sweep of our One Hotspur/Supporters’ Clubs awards at the end of last season.

Modest as ever, Sonny’s mantra continues to be to improve every day - yet he knows with those five years at the Club under his belt, he’s now a player for our Academy graduates to look up to.

“I try to grow every day, every season,” he said. “I try to improve every day. It’s not easy now. I’m 28, I’m not the youngest player now, I don’t want to say I’m a senior player but now I have to help the younger players as well, the players coming up from the youth team, 20, 21 years old, I try to help them. This is important for me as well. I’m going to learn again so many things from last season, and try to improve next season as well.”
