Joe: “I’m a team player, always have been, always will be”

Mon 24 August 2020, 14:47|Tottenham Hotspur

Joe Hart is relishing working alongside Hugo Lloris.

The goalkeeper with two titles and 75 England caps described our skipper as ‘one of the world’s greatest’ after putting pen to paper on a deal until 2022 last week.

He will now hook up with World Cup-winning captain Hugo, 114 caps for France, plus Paulo Gazzaniga, who made 25 appearances last season, and youngsters Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman, all under the guidance of coach Nuno Santos.

Joe featured for the first time in our pre-season victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday, when Jose Mourinho started Hugo before playing both Joe and Paulo in the second half.

I’m genuinely really excited to work with Hugo, excited to push him, excited to learn from him

Joe said: “I’ve huge admiration for Hugo, one of the world’s greatest goalkeepers and I’m genuinely really excited to work with him, excited to push him, excited to learn from him.

“I’m here to work as a team player. I’m a team player, always have been, always will be, whether my name is on the teamsheet or not. It’s a squad effort, and I know what it takes to win titles, I know what it takes to change a club’s dynamic for the better.

“I’ve been on the lucky side of that where I’ve been the guy who has been named on the teamsheet and coming here, Hugo has huge respect at the Club, and fully deserves it, and I’m looking to help the Club, I’m not coming here for any other reason. I’m here to help the team any way I can, on the field, off the field, I’m here to try to push the Club forward.”
