Fans name our 'Goal of the Summer'

Mon 10 August 2020, 17:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane's stunning curler against Leicester City has been crowned our 'Goal of the Summer'.

During an unprecedented period of football throughout June and July in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, we saw some crucial goals scored as we enjoyed a solid run of results, losing just one of our nine games to climb to sixth place and secure a Europa League spot for 2020/21.

Over the last few days, supporters have voted in their thousands to decide our first-ever 'Goal of the Summer' and it was Harry, who finished the campaign with five goals in our last three games, who took the honours with his second of two well-taken goals in the 3-0 home win over Leicester City on 19 July.

Collecting a diagonal pass from Lucas Moura that took him out to the left edge of the penalty box, the striker turned onto his right foot, cut inside and curled beautifully beyond goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from an acute angle to put us out of sight before we'd even got to half-time.

Harry's wonder goal - not too dissimilar to his famous strike against Arsenal at White Hart Lane in 2017 - won the poll with 51 per cent of the vote.

Steven Bergwijn's rasping shot in the 1-1 home draw with Manchester United - our first goal following the restart and our first-ever Premier League goal in June - was runner-up with 15 per cent, while Toby Alderweireld's match-winning header against Arsenal was third with 13 per cent.

Thanks to everyone who voted!
