Internationals - brace for Eriksen, assist for Sessegnon

Fri 15 November 2019, 21:52|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen scored twice as Denmark all-but secured their place at Euro 2020 with a 6-0 thrashing of Gibraltar in Copenhagen on Friday night.

Midfielder Christian played the full 90 minutes and notched his team’s fifth goal five minutes from time, before making it 6-0 in stoppage time as the Danes went top of qualifying Group D.

Guaranteed at least a play-off spot before kick-off, only a heavy defeat to Republic of Ireland on Monday would prevent Denmark from finishing in the top two, thereby going through automatically to the tournament finals.

Elsewhere on Friday, Juan Foyth and Giovani Lo Celso both started as Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in a friendly in Saudi Arabia. Juan put in a full shift at right-back while Giovani played just under an hour in midfield.

Meanwhile, Ryan Sessegnon came off the bench and provided the assist for England Under-21s’ third goal as they won 3-0 in Albania in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier. Ryan was introduced in the 71st minute and set up Reiss Nelson to score in added time.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp and goalkeeper Brandon Austin were unused substitutes for the Young Lions.
