AIA Indonesia’s women’s team have trained with Spurs Ladies after being crowned the winners of this year’s AIA Championships.
‘Drupadi’, which is a team made up of the best players from 16 women’s teams across Indonesia, secured a 2-1 win over China women’s team ‘The Strikers’ in the final of the first women’s competition in the AIA Championships which was held at Hotspur Way on Friday 10 May.
The AIA Championship is an annual five-a-side football competition held by AIA, the Club’s Global Principal Partner, as part of its commitment to help people live healthier, longer, better lives.
After winning the title, the women’s team were treated to a training session with the newly-promoted Spurs Ladies – soon to become known as Tottenham Hotspur Women – players, delivered by Spurs Ladies Manager Karen Hills, Head Coach Juan Amoros and Global Football Development coaches Anton Blackwood and Shaun Harris. In addition to a technical session, the ladies were also given a motivational talk about the values of being a successful female footballer.
As part of their winning journey, the Drupadi players also had the chance to meet players from the men’s First Team and received tickets to watch Spurs play against Everton on Sunday 12 May at the new stadium.
Karen said: “We were delighted to be able to invite the Drupadi team to train with our squad. The players demonstrated excellent technical skills, but what impressed us most was their natural passion and love of football. With the support of AIA, I am sure these girls will go on to achieve great things and help to inspire more women in Indonesia to take up the sport.”
