Internationals - Kane on target as England hit five

Fri 22 March 2019, 21:58|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane scored his 21st international goal as England kicked-off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with an impressive 5-0 win against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday night.

Having played a key pass in the build-up to Raheem Sterling's opening goal, the skipper buried the second from the penalty spot to give the Three Lions a 2-0 lead at half-time. Sterling went on to score a hat-trick with an own goal completing the final 5-0 scoreline.

Harry played the full 90 minutes and Dele Alli completed an hour after starting but Eric Dier departed just 17 minutes into the first half after picking up an injury and he has since been ruled out of Monday's qualifier in Montenegro. Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose were unused substitutes.

Speaking to ITV post-match, Harry said: "It was a brilliant team performance, everyone worked hard, pressed and made it difficult for them. We scored our goals and we were clinical in the second half.

"We're enjoying it out there. We're a confident team, we feel good, we play good football, everyone is expressing themselves, we've young players, hungry players and you saw that out there tonight."

Our remaining four Lions now travel out to Montenegro for England's second qualifier on Monday (7.45pm).
