Rosella Ayane: 'There's a real family feel here'

Tue 23 July 2019, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur

New signing Rosella Ayane has commended Spurs Women’s success in recent years and hopes to achieve “bigger and better things” with the Club in seasons to come.

Earlier this month, seven new signings were announced ahead of our debut season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, including the arrival of forward Rosella from Bristol City, adding another layer of depth in our attack.

During her first interview as a Spurs player, the 23-year-old expressed her delight at being involved in a new era for the women’s team.

“Tottenham is a very ambitious club and have been promoted three times already – to now be in the top tier of women’s football is brilliant and that success speaks for itself,” the forward said.

“I spoke with the management team about the vision for the future and it’s definitely something I want to be part of. Hopefully I’ll be able to push the Club and myself to bigger and better things.

“There’s certainly very good vibes in the team and everyone is excited to be here and for the new chapter of Tottenham Hotspur Women.”

Having now spent over two weeks with the squad, Rosella is settling in comfortably with help from her team-mates and the staff, despite her ‘first day nerves’.

I’d like to think I’ll be able to bring some pace to the front line.

“I’m really enjoying pre-season so far and everyone has made me feel really welcome,” she added.

“There’s a real family feel here which is really nice to be part of. Karen (Hills) has been really great with me – she knew I was nervous coming in on my first day.

“I can’t complain, all the girls and staff are so friendly and everyone has been very welcoming – that was the first thing I said when I went home to my mum!”

Rosella has been out to impress during pre-season and could make her debut when Spurs Women play Southampton in our first pre-season friendly on Sunday (28 July, 2pm kick-off at Eastleigh FC).

“I’m excited to get going,” she said. “I’d like to think I’ll be able to bring some pace to the front line and I definitely want to get plenty of goals to my name this season, especially with the quality of players I have around me. Hopefully I can link up well with the girls and bring some creativity.”
