He loved every minute of our Asia tour – but Heung-Min Son couldn’t hide his disappointment after losing out to Manchester United in our second International Champions Cup (ICC) match in Shanghai on Thursday.

A close-fought, often quite competitive affair looked to be heading in our favour when Lucas Moura levelled Anthony Martial’s strike midway through the second half. Lucas, Sonny and Erik Lamela were stretching United’s defence but with 10 minutes left, Angel Gomes broke into the box and finished well to hand a 2-1 victory to United.

That means a win and a loss from our two ICC matches so far with Inter to follow at home on Sunday 4 August.

“Losing is always painful,” said the South Korean star. “I don’t like to be losing any games but I think in this weather the players did well, we gave everything.

“It’s pre-season anyway and... look, I don’t want to lose in pre-season, but we can train even more now. We have a few weeks until we start the games (Premier League begins against Villa at home on 10 August) and I think we can prepare well.”

Next up, Real Madrid in the Audi Cup at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Depending on results, we then play either hosts Bayern or Fenerbache on Wednesday.

Sonny added: “I can’t wait to go to Germany again. I hope we can play well against another good opponent, we can have a good experience and a good performance and hopefully we can win this game as well.”
