It’s great to be back – Winksy

It didn’t take long for Harry Winks to miss doing what he loves the most – playing football.

'Pre-season' may be words that send shivers down many a player's spine, but ‘Winksy’ is delighted to be back on the ball at Hotspur Way.

The midfielder was back in on Monday - when he also signed a new deal alongside Ben Davies - was back on the pitches with his team-mates on Tuesday and working hard again today – just a month before the big opener against Aston Villa on 10 August.

Before that, our tour to Asia and high-profile International Champions Cup matches against Italian champions Juventus in Singapore on 21 July and Manchester United in Shanghai on 25 July. That’s followed by Real Madrid in our Audi Cup opener in Munich on 30 July – much to look forward to.

“Pre-season is tough, as it is every year,” said Winksy, 23 and already up to 102 appearances for us. “It’s just great to be back, seeing the boys, the coaches, getting back out there on the pitch.

“You go away for a month and don’t kick a ball, you miss it and want to be back out there!

“So it’s good to be back, the squad is coming back in and it will be an exciting time going away to Singapore and Shanghai. It’s going to be good and everyone is looking forward to the season.”
