Internationals - Foyth's side out in Copa America semis

Juan Foyth’s Argentina suffered a semi-final defeat to Brazil at the Copa America in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 3 July).
Our young defender started for his nation for the third match on the trot but, despite a 90-minute shift, was unable to prevent a 2-0 win for the tournament hosts in Belo Horizonte.
Gabriel Jesus fired Brazil in front after 19 minutes, with Robert Firmino completing his side’s victory with just under 20 minutes remaining.
It means Argentina are left fighting for bronze in the third place play-off on Saturday night (8pm UK), where they’ll face the losers of the second semi-final between Chile and Peru.
Elsewhere on the international stage, Victor Wanyama’s Kenya saw their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations confirmed on Tuesday night when Benin collected a point from a goalless draw with Cameroon. That result in Group F meant Kenya did not qualify as one of the four best-performing third-place teams in the group stage after finishing behind Algeria and Senegal in Group C and thus will go home empty-handed.
