Mauricio, Sonny, Harry and Christian up for Premier League awards

Fri 04 January 2019, 13:11|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino, Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen have all received nominations as part of the latest round of monthly awards from the Premier League.

We won five of our seven top-flight games in December, scoring 20 goals in the process, while also claiming an excellent 2-0 win at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, hot on the heels of securing our place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-1 draw away to Barcelona.

Included in that domestic run was a 6-2 triumph at Everton and 5-0 victory at home to AFC Bournemouth either side of Christmas.

With all that in mind, Mauricio Pochettino has been shortlisted for the Barclays Manager of the Month award for December, while Sonny and Harry are up for EA SPORTS Player of the Month.

Premier League award nominees – December, 2018

Barclays Manager of the Month: Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolves), Klopp (Liverpool), Pellegrini (West Ham), Pochettino (Spurs), Sarri (Chelsea).
EA SPORTS Player of the Month: Anderson (West Ham), Hazard (Chelsea), Son (Spurs), Kane (Spurs), Rashford (Manchester United), Salah (Liverpool), Van Dijk (Liverpool).
Carling Goal of the Month: Townsend (Crystal Palace v Burnley), Aubameyang (Arsenal v Spurs), Holebas (Watford v Cardiff), Townsend (Man City v Crystal Palace), Eriksen (Everton v Spurs), Kane (Spurs v Wolves), Camarasa (Leicester v Cardiff), Firmino (Liverpool v Arsenal).

Son bagged six goals in the Premier League during that period to add to his opener at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, including two against both Everton and Bournemouth, while Harry also netted six league goals, including a brace at Goodison Park.

In addition, Christian’s excellent first-time shot from the edge of the box at Everton, which put us 4-1 up just after half-time, is in contention for Carling Goal of the Month, along with Harry’s long-range thunderbolt that put us ahead in our eventual 3-1 home defeat to Wolves on 29 December.
