My First Spurs Christmas – Tanguy Ndombele

Wed 18 December 2019, 15:27|Tottenham Hotspur

In the return of our ‘My First Spurs Christmas’ series, we catch up with some of this year’s new signings to find out about their plans for the festive period and how they’ve celebrated in the past. First up this week is central midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who arrived this year from French giants Lyon...

Tanguy Ndombele

France international, joined us from Lyon in July, 2019

What will you do on Christmas Day?
“My family will come to visit me in London and then I’ll come into the Training Centre to train before the match against Brighton on Boxing Day.”

How does this differ from past Christmases for you?
“The difference will be that, in France, at this time of year, the players are on holiday so they can go away. Last year I went on holiday to Dubai. Now I’m in England I’m going to be training and playing some games so it’s totally different, but I’m ready for that.”

What is traditional at Christmas in France?
“In this period it’s like here in England – people are celebrating Christmas, enjoying time with family, giving presents and enjoying food all together, so it’s the same really.”

What is your favourite festive meal?
“In my family we have French or African food. I like pistou pasta, but it doesn’t really matter what we eat, the most important thing is to be with family and spend some good time all together.”

What do you wish for at Christmas?
“To be fit because I have been injured lately. Also I wish for the team to win the games that we have – that will be most important.”

What was your most memorable gift as a child?
“When I was young I received a PlayStation. That was great! The first game I had on it was Pro Evolution Soccer.”

Look out for more instalments of ‘My First Spurs Christmas’ throughout the week, featuring some of the new faces from both our Men’s and Women’s squads. Coming up tomorrow, Spurs Women star Hannah Godfrey...
