As we return to Old Trafford tonight, Jan Vertonghen is hoping we can we produce the same level of performance that saw us earn a 3-0 triumph away at Manchester United last season.

Just three games into our 2018/19 campaign, we travelled to the north west to take on United as we looked to continue our perfect start to the season.

We had already secured victories over Newcastle United (2-1) and Fulham (3-1) in our first two outings before we went on to make that a hat-trick with a memorable night at the Theatre of Dreams.

A perfectly placed header from Harry Kane just after the break set us on our way before an inspired performance from Lucas Moura wrapped up the win with two superb efforts from the Brazilian forward.

We are confident. We're going there to win, not to sit and wait.

“Last season, the win at Old Trafford was big for us,” Jan reflected. “We always enjoy the games there because it's two teams who want to win and who have to win. It’s a tough place to go but also a nice place to go with results like that.”

Looking ahead to tonight’s clash, however, the Belgian international admits the team's focus has to be on our own performance as usual, as we look to, once again, make it a hat-trick of wins in the Premier League.

“We just have to look at ourselves in this scenario,” the defender continued. "We have been doing well over the last couple of games. In the last three games we've got our first away win since January in the Premier League at West Ham, a home win against Bournemouth and we qualified for the next stage of the Champions League.

“We know we have to concede less goals, but we are working on that. We are confident. We're going there to win, not to sit and wait. We just want to go to Old Trafford and keep the good run going and keep climbing towards the top four.”

Kick-off tonight is at 7.30pm.
