Eric Dier was as forthright as ever in his views after our 2-1 win at Brighton.

The midfielder played his part as we halted a run of three-successive defeats with a dominant display at the Amex Stadium.

Harry Kane’s penalty and Erik Lamela’s strike put us in a commanding position in the Sussex rain before a grandstand finish from the home side brought a late response and even later save from Paulo Gazzaniga. However, we were well worthy of the three points to make it four wins in six in the Premier League.

We’re a group of players who are very honest with ourselves both individually and as a collective

"It was so important," said Eric of the victory on his 188th appearance for us. "It's a really difficult place to come, we know that, Brighton are an organised team, tough and we’re happy to have won.

"We know that if we concentrate on ourselves and do what we want to do right - our style of play, our mentality, our aggression, the way we approach the game - we know we're a match for anyone.

"We haven’t been good enough recently and this was a step in the right direction.

"The Inter game was already an improvement, the performance was better but we still lacked something...that little extra we needed to give. We know that.

"We’re a group of players who are very honest with ourselves both individually and as a collective. We know what we need to do and it's just a matter of us all doing it."
